Industry Professionals Say
“From day one, the Board wanted a permeable lot, a view heightened by the long-term drought in the southeast which drastically lowered lake levels and threatened drinking water supplies. They visited pervious concrete and permeable interlocking concrete pavement projects in the region. This raised everyone’s confidence in these types of systems. The board went with PICP because of easy repairs and a better looking surface.”
“Entering a parking lot should be the beginning of a pleasant experience when you arrive at a site and/or building. Parking lots should be ‘parking gardens’ with trees, other vegetation, color, texture and variety. Besides creating a sustainable drainage system that supports plants, permeable interlocking concrete pavement improves the character of parking area, thereby supporting the parking garden idea.”
ICPI Installer Development Program
ICPI is now offering Certified Installers the opportunity to earn designations, including a Commercial Paver Technician designation, Residential Paver Technician designation, and a PICP Specialist designation. Designations are earned by meeting minimum installation experience requirements, holding a Record of Completion for the applicable course, and maintaining an active ICPI Concrete Paver Installer certification.
ICPI’s plan for the future is for participants to be able to follow an education path (residential or commercial), earning recognition throughout the process, and eventually earning the title of “Paver Professional” to be added to an installer's certification document.
See a diagram of the ICPI Installer Development Program to get a better understanding of how this will work.
