Industry Professionals Say
“Infiltration is so high that there hasn’t been any water captured in the monitoring wells. The PICP is performing adequately being subject to parked cars, traffic and street sweeping."
“Entering a parking lot should be the beginning of a pleasant experience when you arrive at a site and/or building. Parking lots should be ‘parking gardens’ with trees, other vegetation, color, texture and variety. Besides creating a sustainable drainage system that supports plants, permeable interlocking concrete pavement improves the character of parking area, thereby supporting the parking garden idea.”
ICPI Concrete Paver Installer Certification
How to become an ICPI Certified Installer
To earn an ICPI Concrete Paver Installer certification, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Attend the ICPI Concrete Paver Installer course. Read more about the course...
- Earn a passing score on the exam and receive a Record of Completion.
- Complete an Application for Certification (meeting the minimum installation experience requirements of at least 5 projects and 10,000 sq. ft.).*
- Upon approval, a certification will be valid for two years. During each two-year term, Certified Installers must earn continuing education credits in order to renew certification (please see below for more information).
Participants who take the course and earn a passing grade on the exam will receive a Record of Completion for the course. The Record of Completion does not expire, so if a course participant does not currently meet the minimum installation experience requirements, the application can be submitted at a later date.
*Please note that installation experience can be taken from any period of time that a person has been installing. Installers can go back as many years as needed in order to fulfill the above requirements. Also, this is a one-time form. Installation experience needs to be submitted only once to ICPI.
Continuing Education for Certification
During each two-year certification term, Certified Installers will be required to complete 8 continuing education credits. Click HERE to read more about continuing education and to see a list of approved programs.
• Each Certified Installer is responsible for keeping track of continuing education credits as they have earned, and needs to make proof of attendance available to ICPI if certification status is audited.
• Continuing education credits must be earned before the certification expiration date.
• Continuing education is reported to ICPI only at the end of the certification term, when certification is renewed.

Additional Opportunities for Recognition - Installer Development Program
We have made some changes to the program and are now offering Certified Installers the opportunity to earn designations, including a Commercial Paver Technician designation and a PICP Specialist designation.
ICPI’s plan for the future is for participants to be able to follow an education path, earning recognition throughout the process, and eventually earning the title of “Paver Professional.” Read more...
