The 2016 ICPI Summer Meeting took place August 23-26 at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you to all of the ICPI Members and their families who attended our recent ICPI Summer Meeting in Nashville to make it a huge success! ICPI had a total of 173 members, 17 spouses, and 2 children for an overall attendance of 199 including the ICPI staff! Four additional events were held in conjunction with the ICPI Committee Meetings in Nashville: the Member Networking Reception, General Session Luncheon, Social Event, and the PaverPAC Reception.
The Member Networking Reception took place Tuesday evening on the Legislative Terrace at the Sheraton Hotel, which allowed members to network and socialize prior to the majority of the committee meetings beginning. The BanjoCats, a Husband & Wife Duo, made a special appearance to provide some local musical flair as they enhanced the reception with their banjos, guitars and fabulous country singing!
The General Session Luncheon on Wednesday afternoon was a highlight to our week in Nashville, as it featured our Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Chuck Taylor, as well as our local guest speaker, Laura Jones, from the City of Nashville. Steve Berry, along with other ICPI Officers put together a very heart-felt presentation honoring Chuck Taylor and all that has he has contributed to both the Paver Industry, as well as ICPI over the years.
Our guest speaker, Laura Jones, PE CFM, from Metro Water Services, Stormwater Division of Nashville presented on how and why the City of Nashville and the state of Tennessee have embraced PICP systems. She focused on the Fulton Municipal Parking Lot Project to share why permeable pavers have demonstrated performance that supports LID and Stormwater management successfully.
The ICPI Social Event at Tequila Cowboy was a huge hit with over 180 members present in which a few of our Members put together an unforgettable “Presidential Debate” to roast our immediate past chair, David Pitre. David, thank you for all that you have done to “Make ICPI Great Again!”
