Thousands of contractors, dealers, and other industry professionals once again attended ICPI’s Hardscape North America (HNA) trade show last week in Louisville. HNA is the largest hardscape show in North America.
HNA featured 51 new exhibitors with a total of 167 exhibitors making it the largest show since its start in 2007. It also featured learning opportunities, as well as popular returning activities such as the HNA Installer Championship and HNA Awards.
For the first time, contractors were able to visit the exhibit floor for three days, as well as purchase a VIP Pass, which allowed them to take advantage of all the HNA education opportunities at the show. In all, 276 attendees took advantage of the VIP Passes, significantly increasing the overall attendance at education sessions and completely filling the outdoor demonstration area seating.
“Every year, we look to expand and enhance HNA,” said Charles McGrath, ICPI Executive Director. “This year, we really wanted to emphasize the learning opportunities and exhibits. HNA featured a new installation demonstration team and education sessions on key business issues for contractors, such as increasing profitability and motivating employees. We are very pleased with the response.”
Conference Sessions included industry experts examining:
- Pitfalls and reasons why most hardscape contractors are not more profitable
- Production management and crew motivation on the hardscape jobsite
- Estimating projects with confidence and profit
- Using a dashboard to steer a hardscape company on the right path
- How to design, sell, and build outdoor kitchens and living spaces
- Super-sizing sales through upselling
- Smart prospecting simplified
The Hardscape Demonstrations, led by award-winning hardscape professional Frank Bourque and his team, explored installing hardscapes around pools and water features for lasting results. Other demo topics covered tools of the trade, base construction and paver installation, raised patios, walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, BBQs and fire pits, pools, water features and hardscape lighting and permeable pavers.
The exhibits, which were co-located with GIE+EXPO, the Green Industry and Equipment Expo, combined with HNA featured more than 1,000 exhibits both on the trade show floor and outdoor exhibit area
Dr. Robert Ballard, who led the exploration that discovered the Titanic, was the keynote speaker. His presentation, “Science, Exploration & the Miracles of Human Achievement,” focused on his successful approach to goal setting, team building and execution. His remarks were designed to “inspire, drive and propel” attendees to achieve their objectives and dreams.
The 2019 HNA trade show promises to be even bigger and better. Mark your calendar for October 16-18, 2019 in Louisville.
