The Biggest Event for the Hardscape Industry
Louisville, KY (November 8, 2017) - More than 2,400 hardscape contractors, dealers and retailers attended the Hardscape North America (HNA) trade show held Oct. 18-20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY. HNA welcomed 57 new exhibitors in 2017, leading to 16% growth on the exhibit floor and making it the largest show ever for the hardscape industry. The co-location with GIE+EXPO (Green Industry & Equipment Expo) added up to a total of 1,005 exhibits - indoors and out - and provided HNA exhibitors exposure to over 11,000 landscape and hardscape professionals.
This year the Dealer Program was designed to accomplish two simple objectives: overcoming the challenges in a dealer's market in order to grow their company, and identifying what works and doesn't work in a dealer's unique market area - urban and rural. The program featured a keynote speaker, economist Alan Beaulieu. Following the keynote, participants were invited onto the show floor for Dealer Day, during which exhibitors and dealers had one-on-one networking time to view and discuss new products.
Hardscape contractors, as well as landscape contractors, were able to choose from eight conference sessions and six live hardscape demonstrations that were approved for ICPI Installer Continuing Education Hours. In addition, seven 20-minute contractor briefings gave attendees the opportunity for quick education breaks throughout Thursday and Friday. GIE+EXPO attendees with upgraded registration were also able to attend live HNA demonstrations, educational sessions and workshops to learn how to add hardscape construction, and improve their hardscape skills and profitability.
The HNA Installer Championship attracted much attention in the 20-acre Outdoor Demonstration Area. New this year, five Regional Installer Championships took place in cities throughout the United States, with the winners advancing to the final competition. In all, 22 teams competed on Thursday and Friday during HNA, and the four highest scoring teams moved on to Friday's final Championship round. Ultimately, CG Paving from Ft. Worth, TX, emerged as this year's Champion.
With increased sponsor participation this year, the winner received a $14,000 prize package that included $2,400, an iQ360 14" masonry saw with fully-integrated dust collection plus accessories, a Weber MT CF3 Pro forward plate compactor, a hand tool package from Hulton Tools and Pave Tool Innovators, their name engraved on the HNA Installer Championship Cup, a plaque and recognition in various media including Interlock Design Magazine, Hardscape Magazine and HNA website. Additionally, ICPI will cover the team's cost to return and compete to defend their title in the 2018 HNA Installer Championship.
The HNA awards, which were presented on Oct. 19, drew a record number of entries (149) for 16 categories. There were 16 awards presented and 19 honorable mentions. The winning entries are available to view at www.hardscapena.com.
HNA again co-located with GIE+EXPO, the lawn and landscape industry's largest trade show. GIE+EXPO attendance was also up in 2017, with more than 24,000 attendees, a 7% increase over the previous year.
