The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute again participated in the 2019 Federation of Canadian Municipalities Annual Conference and Trade Show in Quebec City.
This year’s FCM Annual Conference broke all attendance records as 2,087 registered FCM delegates participated to send a clear message: it’s time to truly empower this country’s municipalities to build better lives for Canadians. The overarching objective for the 2019 Annual Conference was to engage all members in the coming fall federal election campaign and the mission was to modernize the municipal-federal relationship. Being just 20 weeks before the Canadian federal election day, this conference was a key opportunity for all four national party leaders to speak to municipal leaders and share their visions to build on existing partnership.
ICPI had a booth at the show on Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday. Robert Bowers P. Eng., Director of Engineering for ICPI and Andrew Pask, AP Public Affairs worked with representatives from ICPI Producer Members Bolduc, Rinox and Permacon. During this time 72 delegates stopped by the ICPI booth to ask questions and 28 asked for copies of ICPI PICP Manual. Mr. Bowers was also given an opportunity to do a 15-minute presentation on the new ASCE 68-18 Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement Design Standard in the Connect Lab on the trade show floor. Larry Tétrault, Councillor from La Broquerie, MB was also lucky enough to have his name drawn to win the prize of $750 worth of Canadian Tire Gift cards which was provided by ICPI.
The Canadian Activities Fund also hosted a reception at the Allegro Bar on Saturday, June 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm for 30 invited councillors and mayors from across Canada. All attendees learned more about segmental pavements and the sponsors of the reception provided materials in their area.
ICPI staff has followed up with all contacts and will be sharing the contact list with CTP Team members in the near future.
