ICPI Represents Industry to Canadian Government Officials at FCM Trade Show

June 6, 2017

ICPI participated as a Corporate Partner in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Ottawa ON, June 1-4. The event attracted 2,079 attendees, predominantly mayors and councilors from municipal government across Canada.

The goals of ICPI’s participation were to promote the use of segmental concrete pavement systems and let delegates know that ICPI is available to provide technical information, which should lead to better choices being made related to design, construction and maintenance of interlocking concrete pavement.

ICPI served as a corporate partner with FCM. This partnership provided ICPI with numerous opportunities to communicate with attendees throughout the event. Benefits included:

  • Priority selection of prime booth space
  • A promotional item in the delegates' conference bag, which was a bookmark offering a free copy of the ICPI PICP Manual
  • A half-page advertisement in the conference program, which was positioned by itself in the middle of the first day's schedule
  • A 15-minute presentation about ICPI resources to nearly 100 attendees in the Rendezvous Express Theatre on the trade show floor

ICPI’s Director of Engineering Robert Bowers, Permacon’s Michael Fulcher and Techo-Bloc’s Lincoln Paiva represented ICPI at the exhibit booth. Andrew Pask, ICPI’s Canadian municipal affairs consultant, helped maximize our presence at the FCM Annual Meeting by ensuring Institute staff met with the delegates that were of strategic importance. Leads collected from the tradeshow will be distributed to the Commercial Technical Promotion Team members in the near future for them to follow up on.

In addition, ICPI hosted a one-hour member sponsored reception at the Courtyard Restaurant in the Byward Market District. The reception was attended by mayors and councilors from Toronto, Markham, Calgary, Oakville, and Halton Region. Thanks to reception sponsors Expocrete, Oaks, Permacon and Techo-Bloc.

The next FCM event that ICPI will participate in is the Sustainable Communities Conference, February 6-8, 2018 again in Ottawa, ON.
