The 41st Annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition held in Provo, UT on March 15-16, 2017 was a great success. A total of 61 schools participated in the various competitions. A qualifying test narrowed the competition down to 40 teams.
In the Hardscape Competition, teams installed an 8x8 area of pavers with a fire pit built in the center. At the end of the competition, a mere four points separated the Top 5 teams. Brigham Young University – Provo finished in first place with 192 points with team members Marco Crosland and Spencer Sanders. College of DuPage’s duo of Saul Garcia and Christian Garcia, and McKenna Rowles and Ross Clark of Cuyahoga Community College both totaled 190 points. College of DuPage claimed second place in the tie breaker that was based off of the installation completion time.
With their first and second-place finishes, Brigham Young University – Provo and College of DuPage were awarded the grand prize package trip to Louisville, KY to attend the Hardscape North America tradeshow at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The two teams will be sponsored by ICPI and GIE+EXPO and compete in the 2017 HNA Installer Championship on October 19-20.
ICPI would like to thank Anchor Wall Systems, Belgard and Permaloc for sponsoring the Hardscape Competition at NCLC.
