Transportation Research Board (TRB) Hosts Successful Webinar on Permeable Pavements

March 20, 2018

On March 15, 2018, the TRB hosted over 300 participants in a webinar on permeable interlocking concrete and pervious concrete pavements. The presenters were Dave Hein, P. Eng., Principal Engineer, with Applied Research Associates, Inc. and Todd Hill, P.E., Interim Deputy Commissioner, City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management.

Many attendees were from state and local transportation agencies. The webinar was based on  two Tech Briefs published by FHWA on permeable concrete pavements and permeable interlocking concrete pavements.  Mr. Hill presented the City of Atlanta’s use of 4 miles of permeable interlocking concrete pavements to reduce combined sewer overflows there. That story is also available as an ICPI case study. Click here to download it. ICPI’s software program for structural and hydrologic design of permeable interlocking concrete pavement also received a significant mention. That program is available from www.permeabledesignpro.com
