Workforce Development, LMS Progress and Review of Best Practices Highlight 2018 ICPI Summer Meeting in Vancouver, BC

More than 150 people will attend the 2018 ICPI Summer Meeting September 10-13 in Vancouver, BC. The meeting offers members the opportunity to have a direct voice and impact on current and future ICPI programs during Committee meetings:

Technical Committee Meeting:

  • Discussion on permeable pavement road map
  • Review of best practices manufacturing guide

Construction Committee Meeting:

  • Task group report to develop traffic calming details using interlocking concrete pavement
  • Task group report to develop a “warranty template” that contactors members can use to develop their own warranty

Education Committee Meeting:

  • Learning Management System update and Education Road Map progress
  • Approval of the Workforce Development Boot Camp curriculum

Marketing Committee Meeting:

  • The new Workforce Development program marketing campaign
  • An update on launch and marketing campaign for ICPI’s new learning management system, the Concrete Paver Education Center
  • Update on ICPI’s free designer courses online via AEC Daily

Dues & Bylaws Committee Meeting:

  • Reviewing new policy for the Concrete Paver Education Center
  • Adding policy regarding the new boot camp program

Government Relations Committee Meeting:

  • Update on US Government Relations Initiatives by ICPI General Counsel, Randy Pence
  • Update on Canadian Government Relations Activities

Meetings, Membership and Trade Shows Committee Meeting:

  • Task group updates on member recruitment efforts and value proposition for producers and associates
  • Discuss forming an Emerging Leaders subcommittee for young industry professionals
  • 2018 ICPI/NCMA Bauma tour update

HNA Advisory Committee Meeting:

  • Reviewing status of HNA 2018 show, committee member responsibilities at the show, and a final push for promotion of attendance
  • Begin discussions for the 2019 show – marketing, education, and show promotion

ICPI Foundation Program Committee Meeting:

  • Grant proposal from ASCE for PICP demo project

In addition, the Summer Meeting Innovative Technologies Forum will feature ICPI member Vern Dueck with CornerWall Solutions presenting an innovative paving slab combined with greenery called Grass-n-Pave. ICPI Technical Director David Smith will provide an overview of new life-cycle cost analysis software for permeable interlocking concrete pavements (PICP). This new sales tool allows users to include offsite benefits that provide an additional financial justification for using PICP.
