ICPI Advocacy on Capitol Hill Reaps Returns

December 19, 2017
In 2008, ICPI provided legislation in a national transportation bill that was passed by the House and Senate and signed into law by then President Obama. Better known as MAP-21, or Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, the bill charged the U.S. Department of Transportation to implement technology transfer of permeable pavements. Since its passage, ICPI worked with the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) staff in developing fact sheets on permeable pavements, an article in FHWA’s Public Roads magazine, and an FHWA-published Tech Brief on permeable interlocking concrete pavements. In addition, ICPI staff organized and contributed one-day permeable pavement seminars for the LTAPs in Ohio, Colorado, and New Jersey. FWHA is now funding three additional permeable pavement seminars with Dave Hein from Applied Research Associates. The first one is scheduled for February 8, 2018 in Ohio.
